Shop With a Cop

Christmas time can be hard for underprivileged kids. Mom and Dad work their hardest just to put food on the table - often times they don't have enough to give their children the Christmas they deserve. Shop with a Cop gives kids a chance to have a Christmas they will never forget. The kids are paired with a police officer who takes them shopping for Christmas presents.

The event allows kids to have up close, personal time with people they really look up to. Many times we forget that the daily work of law enforcement professionals doesn't afford them the opportunity to feel like they really made a difference in someone's lives. Shop with a Cop allows them to truly feel like they've made an impact in the lives of our most precious resources - our kids.

Holiday Parties

Santa Claus entering a buildingThe holidays truly are for kids. Whether it be Santa, the Easter Bunny or Tommy Turkey, most kids really enjoy time spent in celebration. Your donations and food purchases enable us to provide food and entertainment for kids throughout the year when the holidays draw near. At our Christmas party, we partner with our local fire department so that Santa arrives in style!

Kids get to play and celebrate the season in a safe, caring and fun environment. Pictures with Santa are there for the taking! Food and games are provided for the kids. They can also take a ride in a fire truck - what kid wouldn't be excited by that!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny comes to visit us but once a year - and we celebrate with style! Not only do the kids eat free, but they can get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny for free. Parents are highly encouraged to bring their cameras and take photos. It is important to us that parents and their children have lasting memories of important events in their lives without having to expend money to do it.

The highlight of the day is the the Easter Egg Hunt. Kids are separated into different age groups for separate egg hunts. This way we keep the older children from grabbing all the goodies. Fun is had by all searching for the colorful treats!

Project Graduation

This program is funded by the States Attorney’s Office in partnership with the Maryland State Police, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Patuxent River NAS, Patuxent River Department of Defense Police, local rescue squads and several Optimist Clubs. The Division assists with the planning and coordination of graduation night events. Graduates traditionally plan Project Graduation festivities and all graduates and guests commit to remaining alcohol and chemical-free for the evening. The graduates and their guests are transported via bus from their home school to the festivities. All attendees will have an opportunity to enjoy a night of wonderful fellowship with classmates, great food, bowling, swimming, dancing, softball, basketball, games, volleyball, movies and an ice cream sundae bar - all free of charge!
